OPTIONS Independent Learning

OPTIONS works in collaboration with Garth Homer’s LifeStreams Learning and Employment Services programs to support individuals with the goal to pursue employment or lifelong learning. Programs are individualized to provide experiential learning opportunities with specific learning goals for each participant.

Strategies

  • Offer continually evolving program opportunities responding to participants’ needs and interests with specific goals/objectives
  • Provide learning programs that run on a four-month semester system, allowing participants the choice to either continue with a current program or explore a new interest/opportunity on a regular basis
  • Provide learning strategies that support the development of both soft and hard skills

Activities

  • Opportunities to pursue learning opportunities out in the community both in groups or individually (i.e. local history, fitness, arts & culture, etc.)
  • Supported in-house programs (i.e. art/music therapy, personal research projects, literacy tutoring)
  • Volunteering in the community both in group
