Residential Worker | Heron House

As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll support clients in group home settings by addressing their physical, emotional, social, and educational needs. Your duties include implementing Personal Service Plans, teaching life skills, assisting with daily activities and personal care, managing emergencies, administering medication, and providing emotional support.

The Vocational Counsellor supports clients in achieving their creative, learning, and employment goals by assessing needs, identifying skills and passions, and developing personalized plans. They apply knowledge of current community-based employment trends, provide guidance in personal care while maintaining professional boundaries, and maintain accurate client records. This role involves building positive relationships with community partners, delivering targeted training, connecting clients to resources, and advocating on their behalf.
Community Support Worker | Community Inclusion Programs

The Community Inclusion Team provides essential support to individuals with complex developmental disabilities, helping them build meaningful connections and thrive in their communities. Our dedicated staff offer personalized assistance with communication, behavior, personal care, and social interaction. Each client receives services tailored through individual assessments to meet their specific needs and preferences.
In this role, you’ll support the well-being, independence, and community inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities through personalized, activity-based support. You’ll facilitate emotional, social, and life skills development, provide personal care when needed, and respond effectively to emergencies. Key responsibilities include documenting progress, maintaining health and safety standards, and offering respectful, hands-on assistance.
Janitor

The facilities team at the Garth Homer Society plays a key role in maintaining the Garth Homer Centre, where a variety of programs support adults with developmental disabilities.
This position involves maintaining and cleaning various facilities and grounds, including tasks such as floor care, carpet cleaning, window and fixture polishing, and refuse disposal. Responsibilities also include outdoor upkeep like lawn care, snow removal, and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical fixtures, and furniture. The role requires setting up for events, maintaining records and supplies, ensuring facility security, and fostering positive relationships with clients. Physical capability to operate cleaning equipment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role.
